Local government leadership is essential for America to achieve energy independence, renew economic prosperity and protect the environment. Federal policies must empower local governments with tools and resources to effectively partner with the private sector to implement clean energy solutions.

Sign the Climate Communities Letter of Support for the President's Climate Action Plan

On March 31, 2015 the United States submitted our climate targets to the United Nations, formalizing President Obama's commitment for the US: we will cut greenhouse gas emissions 26-28% below 2005 levels by 2025. These actions, along with strong commitments submitted by other countries, represent real momentum on the road to a successful climate change agreement. Local governments will play an integral role in attaining the emissions reductions goals and must also play a role in maintaining the momentum behind the President’s plan to protect its measures from being derailed by political opposition. Cities are on the frontlines of climate impacts and understand the importance of ambitious emissions reductions to stave off the most devastating effects of climate change. Now is the time to send a unified message supporting the administration’s plans to take the threat of climate change seriously and set the stage for further climate action worldwide.

Climate Communities invites elected leaders from communities across the country to sign the Climate Communities Letter of Support for the President's Climate Action Plan.
